SOLID STATE FERMENTATION OF AGRO WASTE FOR INDUSTRIAL LIPASE PRODUCTION
Authors: SUSHMA KUDARI
Abstracts: Enzymes are among the most important products obtained for human needs through microbial sources. A large number of industrial processes in the areas of industrial, environmental and food biotechnology utilize enzymes. Current developments in biotechnology are yielding new applications for enzymes. Solid-state Fermentation holds tremendous potential for the production of enzymes. It can be of special interest in those processes where the crude fermented product may be used directly as the enzyme source. Potentially many high value products as enzymes, metabolites, antibiotics could be produced in SSF, and almost all known microbial enzymes can be produced under SSF systems. In recent years, the SSF processes have been increasingly applied for the production of lipase enzyme. A strain of Pseudomonas aeruginosa was used for the production of lipase in solid cultures. The study included collection of agro-wastes including Sugarcane waste, Dal waste, Corn waste, Ground nut, Safflower and Niger seed waste. Lipase are used widely in detergents, food, flavour industry, biocatalyst resolution of pharmaceuticals, esters and amino acid derivatives, making of fine chemicals, agrochemicals, biosensor, a bioremediation cosmetics and perfumery. The present study was undertaken to examine the effectiveness of agro-wastes as a substrate for lipase production, purification, and characterization of the enzyme.

PERFORMANCE AND RELIABILITY IMPROVEMENT MODEL FOR WSN
Authors: SARITA SIMAIYA, DR. SANJAY S CHAUDHARY, DR. ANU BHARTI
Abstracts: The wide utilization of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) is obstructed by the severely limited energy constraints of the individual sensor nodes. This is the reason why a large part of the research in WSNs focuses on the development of energy efficient routing protocols. Energy conservation is one of the major important issues in wireless sensor networks. In WSN communication is based on battery operated computing and sensing devices. In WSN sensor networks energy to be deployed in an Adhoc manner, with a positive approach, individual nodes can be largely inactive at idle periods of time, but when something is detected then becoming suddenly active. In WSN the major challenges for research are conservation of energy and security. Large-scale deployments will require routing protocols that scale to large network sizes in an energy-efficient way. Routing in WSNs is very challenging due to unique inherent characteristics (energy efficiency and awareness, connection maintenance, minimum resource usage limitation, low latency, load balancing in terms of energy used by sensor nodes, etc.) that distinguish this network from other wireless networks such as mobile ad hoc networks, cellular networks, and wireless mesh networks. This paper presents existing issues of WSN which can affect its performance and reliability and also proposed a reliability and performance improvement model for WSN.

CLIMATE CHANGES EFFECT ON THE AGENTS INVOLVED IN EPIDEMIC DISEASES: INTELLIGENT TECHNIQUE MODELING
Authors: BOUAOUD SOUAD, BOUHARATI KHAOULA, MAHNANE ABBAS, BOUHARATI SADDEK, HAMDI-CHERIF MOKHTAR
Abstracts: Various reasons are considered as causes of decrease or extinction of virus or bacterial species. Some causes are due to changes in climatic conditions, others are due to human intervention such as habitat change or the introduction of other species in competition. All these parameters are characterized by their uncertainty and imprecision. Also, each species reacts in a different way than the other. To analyze the evolution taking place on a given species, we propose an analysis using an intelligent system based on the principles of fuzzy logic. As fuzzy logic deals with uncertainty, its application in this area proves to be adequate. A fuzzy system is constructed with three input variables (climatic conditions, habitat change, and introduction of other species) and an output variable that expresses the nature of the species involved epidemic diseases and there evolution. A rule base is established, which will allow to randomly enter values at the input of the system to instantly read the result at the output.

RAMIFICATIONS OF INFIDELITY IN MAURITIUS
Authors: NANDAN SEEBORUTH
Abstracts: This study is based upon Infidelity prevailing in the Mauritian Society. It attempts to demonstrate the various factors related to infidelity. Moreover, the study has been carried out with a sample size of 350 to represent the whole population and to provide a rough estimate of the infidelity prevailing here. Thus, it has revealed that there is approximately 40% of unfaithfulness among all couples including those who are married religiously, legally or cohabiting. Likewise, it has been found that infidelity is linked to many secondary factors which contribute towards being treacherous. The main hypothesis revealed that sexual orientation is completely independent of unfaithfulness while religious segregation also does not assume a part in treachery. Although the causes of infidelity are varied and complex some of the causes have been identified. Furthermore, the impacts of infidelity may completely destroy a relationship, but the research has also revealed that some deceived mates chose to suffer in silence rather than remedy the situation. Nevertheless, while sometimes the betraying spouse may not be getting enough from the relationship and at other times the betrayed spouse may not be giving enough which results in treachery. As a result, this leaves the committed partner to feeling devastated, depressed, aggrieved and alone.

THE CHIEFTAINCY INSTITUTION AMONG THE BANYANG AND EJAGHAM ETHNIC GROUPS OF CAMEROON (1884-1990): AN INTERSECTION OF FLEXIBILITY, PARTIALITY AND INTERFERENCE
Authors: TABE JAMES TAKOR
Abstracts: The paper examines the mode of transfer of power in the chieftaincy institution among the Banyang and Ejagham ethnic groups of Manyu Division, South West Region of Cameroon. The succession principles in this land was liberally democratic but not without some shortcomings. The paper made use of secondary and primary sources for the collection of data. Concerning the secondary sources, use was made of literature that offered some general and specific information about the paper. To ensure an easy understanding of the paper, we adopted a conventional analytical pattern. We used both the chronological and topical approaches. Our findings reveal three central issues: Firstly, the chieftaincy institution among the Banyang and Ejagham ethnic groups was flexible and unpredictable. Secondly, the transfer power was smooth to an extent. Finally, the magnitude of power alternation made chieftaincy disputes obvious. Above all, the paper argues that the mode of power transfer had had considerable negative peaceful co-existence and stability in the society.

Authors: SUSHMA R B, DR. MANJULA G R, SAYYED JOHAR
Abstracts: The dream of our Prime Minister "Digital India" will be successful only if there is reliable security for the digital data Majority of the sensitive information which passes through the communication channel is vulnerable to attackers. Hence we need to develop algorithms that will help protect the integrity of digital media element and intellectual property rights of its owners. So it is necessary to develop methods which not only involves hiding of sensitive information but also the fact that communication is taking place. To achieve these requirements we are using the concept of Steganography which is the art of secret. There are several types of steganography depending on which is the carrier. Here we have used Image as the carrier. Here we are using a combination of 2 algorithms, which is selected based on the data that is being communicated. The proposed scheme aims to provide better performances in terms of time, robustness and perceptual quality than other embedding algorithms.

STUDIES ON THE DE-FLUORIDATION EFFICACY OF CHRYSOPOGON ZIZANIODIDES, OCIMUM TENUIFLORUM AND THEIR COMBINATIONAL USE
Authors: POORNACHANDRA RAO K
Abstracts: Fluoride in drinking water can be detrimental to health and causes many health problems to human beings. Excess of fluoride in drinking water has become a threat in recent days due to the lesser availability of potable groundwater resource especially in rural areas. Hence there is a pressing demand for the solution of fluoride contamination using natural bioadsorbants. In the present study, a cost effective method of de-fluoridation using two medicinal plant species Chrysopogon zizaniodides and Ocimum tenuiflorum have been investigated which are cost effective bio adsorbents. The investigation was carried out on the adsorption of fluoride ion to analyze the effect of various parameters like contact time, adsorbent dose, particle size and the combination of the plants as adsorbents. The Hydrophonic study revealed that the plants of Chrysopogon zizaniodides reduced 3.5 mg L-1 of fluoride after treatment when compared to 1.2 mg L-1 reductions by Ocimum tenuiflourum. The combinations of Chrysopogon zizaniodides: Ocimum tenuiflorum in the ratio of 2:1 revealed the maximum defluoridation efficiency ranging from 65 to 89 % correspondingly from 1 to 5mg L-1 fluoride concentration. The maximum percentage removal of fluoride ion occurs at 24 h contact time and with least particle size (1mm). The defluoridation increases with the increases in the adsorbent dose due to increase in surface area. Thus, a cost effective method of de-fluoridation using Chrysopogon zizaniodides and Ocimum tenuiflorum will be much beneficial especially in rural areas.

Results: 31.3% of our patients were overweight whereas 28.8% were obese. 32.5% had high blood pressure (HBP), 31% had low HDL-cholesterol level, 41.8% had high triglyceride level and 28.5% had dysglycemia (19% had diabetes and 9.5% had prediabetes). G1 patients were older than those of G2: 58 ± 11 vs. 48.6 ± 15.3 years. Familial background of HBP was found in 45.8% (G1) vs. 27% (G2). The body mass index was of 27±5 kg/m2 (G1) vs. 26.5±5 kg/m2 (G2). Mean serum calcium level was 11.1±2 mg/dl (G1) vs. 10.7 ±2.2 mg/dl (G2). Mean PTH level was 236 ±222 pg/ml (G1) vs. 382±479 pg/ml (G2). Mean 25(OH) vitamin D level was 11±4 ng/ml (G1) vs. 12±8 ng/ml (G2). Conclusion: Cardio metabolic risk factors are frequent in patients with hyperparathyroidism. Compared to normoglycemic patients, patients with dysglycemia are older, but there were no differences in the other parameters analyzed in this study.
