ESTIMATION OF THE CARBON STOCK OF RHIZOPHORA RACEMOSA G.F.W.MEY. (RHIZOPHORACEAE) IN THE MANGROVES OF AZAGNY AND ÎLES ÉHOTILé NATIONAL PARKS (SOUTHERN CôTE D’IVOIRE).
Authors: EGNANKOU WADJA MATHIEU, KOFFI KOUADIO ARSèNE DIEUDONNé, GNAGBO ANTHELME
Abstracts: The assessment of the carbon stock of ecosystems is one of the main recommendations of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in 1994. Allometric equations, which represent a precise method of carbon quantification, were used to assess the carbon stock of mangroves in two national parks, Azagny and Îles Ehotilés. To this end, forty (40) plots, twenty (20) in each park, were set up in which measurements of diameter at breast height and height at the top were taken. In the Ehotilés Islands National Park, the biomass values are higher than those measured in the Azagny National Park. Obviously, carbon stocks and CO2 emission rates follow the same trend. This difference could be explained by the fact that the mangroves in these two parks do not experience the same level of anthropogenic aggression.

ASSESSMENT OF CUSP DEVIATION IN TOOTH RESTORED WITH A NEW BIS-GMA FREE COMPOSITE RESIN.
Authors: LABIB MOHAMMED LABIB ELSEBAEY, MOHAMED AHMED WAKWAK
Abstracts: Aim: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the cusp deviation of teeth that had been repaired using a novel free Bis-GMA composite resin. Materials and Methods: Eighty freshly removed premolars (n=80) with Class II (MOD) cavities were employed in the study. The teeth will be separated into two equal groups (n=40) based on the kind of composite resin utilised, with each major group broken into two equal subgroups (n=20) based on the adhesive system. Subgroup a: Admira low-shrinkage composite resin with Futurabond DC adhesive system. Subgroup b: Admira, a low-shrink composite resin with G-bond. Subgroup c: Grandio Bis-GMA Containing Resin Composite with G-bond (subgroup c). Subgroup d: Futurabond DC with Bis-GMA Containing Resin Composite (Grandio). A universal measuring microscope and a laser horizontal metroscope were used to measure cusp deviation. Results: The considerable increase in cuspal deviation of cavities repaired using Bis-GMA Containing Resin Composite (Grandio) over the low shrinkage composite resin Admira was expected. Conclusion: Due to changes in the organic matrix of the material, Admira (Ormocer) has a good effect on limiting cusp deviation when compared to traditional Bis-GMA Containing Resin Composite (Grandio).

Authors: DR SIDNEY KAWIMBE, WEBSTER SIKAZWE, LOTI SAIDI, JACKSON SISHUMBA
Abstracts: Electronic banking basically refers to performing banking functions or transactions using a smart technologically inclined device or the internet. Information Technology has recently influenced banking operations, transactions and service delivery. It has provided a channel through which banking is done in convenience, thereby, reducing customer queues in banking halls, administrative expenses and the complexities associated with traditional banking. However, the disadvantages of electronic banking are quite significant. They include unauthorized data access, data loss and fraudulent activities. Using the internet, banks display all relevant information regarding their products on their website which is easily accessible to customers. The study assessed the impact of electronic banking on commercial bank’s profitability by using the standard systematic literature review method. Various data bases were searched using set criteria. The literature search yielded 13 articles after applying inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results from the literature reveal that electronic banking has brought about many opportunities for the banking sector in Africa as regards profitability, partly due to the reduced number of tellers and front-line staff. On the hand, incidences of fraud have increased. The study concludes that electronic banking has a positive effect on the profitability of banks in Africa due to the streamlining of operations brought about by technology.

GROWTH AND YIELD OF IRISH POTATO (SOLANUM TUBEROSUM L.) RESPONSE UNDER DIFFERENT LEVELS OF N2-P2O5 FERTILIZER AND FARMYARD MANURE AT BORE, SOUTHERN OROMIA, ETHIOPIA
Authors: SOLOMON TESHOME, AREGA AMIDE
Abstracts: The field trial was conducted during 2018 and 2019 main cropping season at the Bore Agricultural Research Centre which is located in Guji Zones, with the objective of determining the effect of combined application of inorganic N2-P2O5 fertilizer and FYM rates on growth, yield and yield components of Irish potato and to identify their economically appropriate rates. The experiment was arranged in factorial combination of four level of farmyard manure (0, 3, 6 and 10 tons ha-1) with five level of Urea (0, 44, 88, 132 and 176 kg ha-1) and NPS (0, 49, 98, 147 and 197 kg ha-1) in combination in RCBD with 3 replications. Our data analysis showed that maximum number of stems per plant (10) was recorded in fertilizer rate of 132 kg N2 + 147 kg P2O5 and 6 t ha-1 FYM, meanwhile minimum number of stem number (4.66) was recorded for 0 kg N2-P2O5 and 3 t ha-1 FYM treatment. Application rates of 132 kg N2 + 147 kg P2O5 ha-1 with 6 t ha-1 FYM recorded maximum (14.77) tuber number while application of zero N2-P2O5 fertilizers + 6 t ha-1 FYM, recorded the least (8.22) tuber number. The combined application of 6 t FYM ha-1+ 132 kg N2 + 147 kg P2O5 ha-1 produced the highest marketable root yield (39.4 t ha-1) while the lowest yield (12.55 t ha-1) was from 4 t ha-1 FYM+0 kg P2O5 ha-1. Maximum total tuber yield (45.98 t ha-1) was obtained at 6 t FYM ha-1+ 132 kg N2 + 147 kg P2O5 ha-1 whereas the lowest (17.71 t ha-1, 18.29 t ha-1 and 18.65 t ha-1) was obtained at combined application of control treatment, 0 N2-P2O5 + 4 t FYM ha-1 and 0 N2-P2O5 + 6 t FYM ha-1 application rates, respectively. The MRR, which determines the acceptability of any treatment shows that, treatment receiving 132 kg N2 + 147 kg P2O5 ha-1 fertilizer rates in combination with 6 t ha-1 of FYM yielded good results of 26943.2% marginal revenue. Therefore the most attractive rates for producers with low cost of production and higher benefits in this case were 132 kg N2 + 147 kg P2O5 ha-1 with 6 t ha-1 farmyard manure combination and can be recommended for farmers in Bore and other areas similar agro ecologies.

Authors: VOUI BI BIANUVRIN NOëL BOUé, KOULIBALY ANNICK, COULIBALY SIENDOU, DJAGO AUDREY, TAPéBI FOUA ALPHONSE
Abstracts: A study on floristic characterization and carbon stock assessment of cocoa stands was carried out in Bédiala (Midwest, Côte d'Ivoire). From surface and itinerant surveys, the composition and floristic diversity were estimated in cocoa agrosystems of different ages (0-5; 5-10; 10-15; 15-20; ? 20 years). The stored carbon was determined from the biomass according to the non-destructive allometric method based on the diameter or height of the individuals. In total, 100 species belonging to 80 families and 45 genera were counted. The family of Sterculiaceae (9 percent) is been the most represented. The most dominant biological types were Microphanerophytes (36%) and Mesophanerophytes (23%). The most important chorological types have been the taxa of the Guinean-Congolian zone (53 percent). The values of the calculated indices being statistically the same from one agrosystem to another, there is however a floristic diversity and an equitable distribution of individuals within species. A total of 193.26 ton of carbon per hectare were determined across the plantations. We also note that age has not had a significant influence on the floristic diversity and the capacity of cocoa agrosystems to store carbon.
