Abstract
An automated irrigation system was developed to optimize water use for agricultural crops. In this project we spray the pesticide and water automatically without the need of manpower. In practice farmers spray the pesticide manually which causes health hazards and nowadays there is a shortage of man power in the field of agriculture and water scarcity is also prevailing. In order to overcome these disadvantages this project is proposed. The aim of this project is to spray the water based on the dryness level of the soil. The pesticide is sprayed whenever needed with the help of the switching circuit. On this basis we use ATMEL microcontroller, LCD display, Max 232, soil sensor, opto coupler, DC motor.
