Abstract
The inhibitory effect of potato peel extract (PPE) on corrosion of carbon steel (CS) in formation water (FW) solution was investigated using potentiodynamic polarization method. The inhibition efficiency of PPE was found to increase with the concentration and reached 85.18% at 2.5% (v/v). Polarization measurements show that the natural extract acted as a mixed inhibitor. The remarkable inhibition efficiency of PPE was discussed in terms of blocking of electrode surface by adsorption of inhibitor molecules through active centers. The adsorption of PPE was found to accord with the Langmuir isotherm.
